Having just landed on the Brussels scene, Ada Oda offer up-tempo binary rock that evokes both the post-punk aplomb and melodic flights of which the Italian variety is the secret, a strange mix. The project was started in 2020 by César Laloux (The Tellers, BRNS, Italia Boyfriend). Originally, the idea was to add a voice singing in Dutch. The first confinement decided otherwise because César met Victoria on the Internet and she was to sing, but in Italian. Based on simple demos (drummachine, guitar, and melody), César describes his vision of love and the people around him. His lyrics were first translated into Italian and then adapted by Victoria, the daughter of a Sicilian immigrant.
On stage and in the studio, the duo is surrounded by Clément Marion on bass (David Numwami, Judith Kiddo), Alex De Beuger (Alaska Gold Rush, Gros Coeur), and Aurélien Gainetdinoff (St. Malo, Yolande Bashing) on guitar. After an initial tour of Belgian clubs, where Ada Oda opened for bands such as Wet Leg or The Cool Green House, and thanks to "Nothing to Offer," an early single-video that was widely circulated, the band has built up a nice international network and is about to conquer the rest of Europe. Their first tour will take them to Benelux countries, Switzerland, France and, of course, Italy, where the band will embark on a tour with the very garage label "Slovenly Recordings." Ada Oda's first LP, "A Weak Love," will be released on Nov. 25 by 62 TV.
