Hiromi has continuously evolved her musical path since her debut with "Another Mind" in 2003, blurring the boundaries between jazz and classical, composition and improvisation. Her latest venture, "Sonicwonderland," marks a bold detour into heavier, funkier territories. With a new quartet consisting of Hadrien Feraud (bass), Gene Coye (drums) and Adam O'Ferrill (trumpet), Hiromi has embarked on a sonic adventure inspired by her vivid imagination.

"Sonicwonderland" grew out of a desire to write music tailored to Feraud's bass playing, leading to the formation of this dynamic ensemble. Coye's drums add warmth and humor, while O'Ferrill's trumpet rounds out the band. The album embraces electronic timbres with keyboards, exploring new sounds developed during the pandemic through the "One Minute Portrait" series on Instagram.

Recorded over three and a half days at the Skywalker Sound Stage, "Sonicwonderland" captures the energy of live performances and features collaborations with singer Oli Rockberger. Illustrations by Lou Beach offer a visual representation of the album's vibrant sound.

Hiromi, born in Hamamatsu, Japan, has gained worldwide acclaim with a prolific career that includes performances at jazz festivals and the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. "Sonicwonderland" reflects her relentless exploration of sound and passion for creativity and connecting with listeners.
