Alborosie, pseudonym of Alberto D'Ascola, is not only a singer-songwriter and beatmaker, but a true pioneer of Italian reggae. Born in Marsala in 1977, he moved to Lombardy at a very young age, where his passion for Jamaican music was born.
With Reggae National Tickets, the band he founded, Alborosie has sold over two hundred thousand records and graced the stages of major reggae festivals around the world, including Reggae Sumfest and Rototom Sunsplash. Alborosie has released 22 albums, including five with Reggae National Tickets and 17 solo albums. His most acclaimed works include Soul Pirate, Escape from Babylon, Sound the System, and Freedom & Fyah.
His music, a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, has captivated audiences around the world, establishing him as one of the most appreciated and followed reggae artists on the international scene, even going so far as to win the M.O.B.O. (Music of Black Origin) Awards in 2011, the first white artist to win such an award.
Opening the evening were Sun Over Waves, a Ticino-based electronic Reggae band composed of Michelangelo Cavadini, Alberto Silini, Gabriele Spalluto. During 2023, they celebrated the 10th anniversary of their musical activity and released their 4th album (self-produced).
