Citing influences ranging from neo soul to contemporary R&B and pop-soul, Chelan creates music for those seeking limitless innovation and creativity. References to Jordan Rakei, Dijon, Kyle Dion and many others can be recognized in his discography. Chelan does not hide his influences and thrives as a collaborator, creating dense and reference-rich soundscapes.
With "Uncentered" (2018), Chelan exploded onto the music scene with an eclectic mix of lively pop ballads in French and English. Standout tracks include "5 a.m.," "Hot Tea" and "Reste avec moi." On his album "Orange & Blue" (2022), Chelan sought collaborators from all over. The lead single, "Patterns," is a romantic neo-soul duet with recent COLORS performer NNAVY, which has reached 5 million streams on Spotify.
Chelan's recent successes include: selection for the Montreux Jazz Festival 2021 "Spotlight" program, being named Apple Music's "Up Next Artist of the Month" for April 2022, and his first performances at major festivals in 2023, such as Zermatt Unplugged and Caribana Festival, which established him as a confident live performer.
His next project, "Run to the Sun," will be released in late February with seven new tracks. The lead single, "London," will be released in late October and is about the pressure to export one's art to achieve success. Another standout track is the title track "Run to the Sun," a piece of dark soul and shimmering pop accompanied by an ambitious music video.
