Estival jazz concluded, festival continues
After a weekend full of excitement with Estival Jazz 2025, the music does not stop and Lugano LongLake Festival is ready to continue with a new week of great events. Estival Jazz audiences experienced three extraordinary evenings.
Thursday opened with the soulful elegance of Alina Amuri and the virtuosity of Al Di Meola, accompanied by a resounding Orchestra della Svizzera italiana in a memorable concert that fused jazz, tango and symphony. Closing the evening with much energy were the engaging rhythms of the fusion band PATAX.
On Friday, it was the turn of the masters of fusion: the Yellowjackets together with Kurt Elling paid tribute to Weather Report amidst superlative technique and pure emotion. The renowned vocal group Take 6 - which was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 given by Estival Jazz in collaboration with Corriere del Ticino - gave the audience a great performance ranging from the Beatles to Billie Holiday.
Saturday opened with the refined jazz of Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, followed by the intense and biting songwriting of Jack Savoretti, who shared memories of his time in Carona with the audience. Closing the festival, in a packed and vibrant square, was Youssou N'Dour: the ambassador of African music enchanted with Birima, Happy and Seven Seconds, in a crescendo of rhythm, emotion and collective participation. Many other events completed last weekend's programming including activities for children with great participation from the first day.
